If you run or belong to a science club in Africa, this is an opportunity to showcase what you’ve been building and get recognized on a global level.
The UNESCO has opened applications for the 2026 Science Club Challenge, targeting African science clubs as part of a bigger plan to build a global network of young innovators and educators.
This initiative is being supported in partnership with BOE Technology Group and will feed into a new UNESCO Science Clubs Network launching in 2026.
What This Opportunity Is About
This is not just a competition, it is a chance to position your science club for global visibility and long-term growth.
UNESCO is looking for science clubs that are actively engaging in STEM activities and making real impact in their communities.
How to Participate
Science clubs are expected to submit a record of what they have done over the last five months before the deadline.
This includes a detailed project report showing your STEM activities, the number of people impacted, and optional photos or videos to support your work.
Clubs can also submit teaching materials or STEM resources they have developed, although this is optional.
You will also need to present a clear roadmap showing how your club plans to grow, sustain itself, and possibly expand in the future.
What You Stand to Gain
Top-performing clubs will be rewarded and recognized through an award ceremony, which may be held online or physically.
The top prize includes a large interactive smart screen, learning tablets, a smartphone, and official recognition.
Other winners will receive tablets, smartphones, and certificates, while selected participants will also get honourable mentions and visibility on UNESCO platforms.
Timeline
Applications are open now and close on April 30, 2026. Evaluation will take place in May, while winners are expected to be announced around July.
